About Guatemalan Huehuetenango Organic Coffee
Coffee was first introduced to the Guatemalan regions by the Spanish, who used the
Mayans to grow and farm it. By 1850, after Guatemalan independence, the farming
of coffee as a cash crop began in earnest. Located in the southwestern mountains,
Huehuetenango (pronounced way-way-te-nang-o) provides the perfect conditions
for high-altitude coffees. Overlooked for years by the general coffee drinking
population, Huehuetenango has been discovered by many gourmet coffee
connoisseurs as their favorite Guatemalan coffee. This coffee has a bright acidic
bite, with a sweet fruit-like body. House Roast is dark roast.
