The appreciation for coffee increases with the knowledge about coffee one acquires over time. There are four distinct elements your may notice when drinking our line of Organic and Fair Trade coffees. They are brought to you in a pleasing and well-balanced combination.
Acidity Not to be confused with bitterness, acidity is what gives our Organic and Fair Trade coffees a lively flavor- the sparkle, or snap to the drink that is experienced around the edges of the tongue and towards the back of the mouth. The acidity of a coffee may be assessed as lively, moderate, flat, or dull. A coffee such as our Colombian will exhibit a bright and pleasant acidity.
Body Body is the sense of heaviness, richness, and thickness at the back of the tongue when you swish the coffee around your mouth. The coffee is not actually heavy; it just tastes that way. A full-bodied, dark-roasted coffee such as Jasper's Java Blend is sure to please.
Bouquet The total aromatic profile created by the sensations of gases and vapors on the olfactory membranes as a result of the volatile organic compounds present in the fragrance, aroma, nose, and aftertaste of coffee. Try our Deep Forest Blend to experience a wonderful and complex bouquet.
Taste Taste refers simply to the taste of the coffee. Taste experiences with coffee can range from one-dimensional (as in our single estate coffee) to rich and complex (as found in our blends). Look for specific taste elements described as winey, earthy, sweet, nutty, smoky, or spicy. Our Guatemalan has a sweet fruit-like taste and has become a coffee connoisseurs' favorite.
